On Sunday, March 16, 2020, in wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Phoenix Fashion Week responsibly postponed its 9th annual Spring Into Style Trend Showcase to the month of May.
With fingers-crossed, Phoenix’s most talked about spring event is set to highlight Arizona’s blossoming talent by curating 20 fashion brands of “top designers, stylists, and boutiques, to each create a stunning fashion show featuring the industry’s most exciting Spring 2020 trends.”
And while we all practice social distancing, today on Instagram, Phoenix Fashion Week unveiled its Editorial Trend Photo Challenge which offers a sneak peek of the 20 trends to come styled respectively by the competing fashion brands all vying for the coveted title of Stylist of the Year.
Each year, as both associate event coordinator and spectator, I look forward to the head-to-toe creations each stylist brings to life on the Spring Into Style runway. It’s an opportunity for the Arizona community to collaborate, create, and network!
After reviewing each photo meticulously, here are my Top Five!
QMULATIVE | Quinlan Whilhite | Cuban Shirts
From the soft lighting to the minimal background, this photo is the perfect example of “less is more.” The clean, crisp lines and subtle colors of the two-piece ensemble complement the model’s features and skin tone while effortlessly highlighting the understated beauty of Cuban wear.
JAYNE | Pamela Jayne Sassi | Floral
Who said the desert can’t be beautiful? Coupled with the mesmerizing backdrop of Arizona, this image captures the succulent nature of floral vibrancy. It’s a delicious display of color and texture that exemplifies why this trend never gets old!
LOVEUR | Leo Mailo | Super 70s
Not to be outdone by Team Floral, this photo combines bold prints with vivid colors to capture the timeless aesthetic of the 70s disco era. The reimagined look, not to mention its fierce posing, is refreshingly modern and playful.
A COOL BREEZE | Judy Adams | High Volume
This photo juxtaposes elegant beauty with the harsh elements of the Arizona desert to accentuate the sheer volume of the Safari-infused fabric. It’s an interplay of soft and hard femininity in a color palette of Southwestern earth tones.
BEING DAPPER | JC Donaldson | Rugby Shirts
Being Dapper never looked so good! With the aid of soft focus and balanced lighting, this photo frames the masculine stance of the male model as he exudes confidence. The overall look combines preppy hipster vintage with the Ivy League style of yesteryear.
